Favela Architectour is committed to sustainable, conscientious tourism that brings positive impacts to our community. We ask that you take the tour in the spirit of respect.
Photography: it is typically safe to have your phone on you and take pictures, but your guide will indicate when it might be problematic or disrespectful. We ask you to keep in mind that you are visiting a low income, working class community, and many residents living there might not understand why you would want to photograph them or their homes. We ask that you use common sense and respect the entire time, including when you are taking photographs. If you are interested in doing a more in-depth photography project outside the scope of what we offer, we can put you in contact with someone in the community more qualified to help with this.

Attire: please come dressed appropriately for a hike.
Short skirts or high heels would make your tour extra adventurous, and so we don’t recommend them!
Please note: favelas have a lot of irregular construction, and sidewalks and stairs are not always even and can be covered in water and other *organic materials* that make this a little more than a simple walk in the park. Though we do our best to avoid skinned knees, we just want to remind you that we are in no way liable for any accidents that might take place on the tour.
